About Jay

Jay fell into writing as a teenager, tempted by the dark world of fanfiction, but it wasn’t until they hit their thirties that they started seriously writing original works. They have an historical tendency towards science fiction, and their first novel Posterity released in 2021. More recently they have started to dabble in other genres; their first romance novel, Keep It In The Family released in 2023 and their latest book The House of Mages is urban fantasy and published in October 2025.

 

Jay's stories are the ones they wished they could have read as a teenager, when as the only queer kid with lesbian mums in school they often struggled to find characters they could identify with. Their motto is that everyone should be able to find themselves on the page of a book, no matter who they are.

The past couple of years they have become more confident with trying other forms of creativity, and they now count photography, art, carpentry, whittling and sewing among their unnecessarily large list of hobbies. You can buy a seemingly random selection of Jay's creative endeavours in various places, including on this site (as long as they can work out how to wrangle the app into submission).

 

Outside of making things Jay enjoys theatre, music and dancing, indoor climbing and sitting in the garden of a pub with a pint. They have two children without fur and one with.
